Europe News Desk!! Turkey’s foreign ministry said it summoned the German ambassador to Ankara over the detention of Turkish journalists in Frankfurt. According to a ministry statement, Turkish journalists working for the Frankfurt bureau of the pro-government daily Sabah were harassed and threatened. The statement, which said the journalist was deliberately detained, came in the hope of immediate release of journalists in view of Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported. Germany’s actions against the free press reveal its narrow outlook, the statement said. The German representative Ismail Erel and editor-in-chief Cemil Albay were detained on Wednesday morning following a complaint by a fugitive of the Gülen movement living in Germany, the Daily Sabah reported. The Turkish government accused the Gülen movement of infiltrating the state bureaucracy and attempting a coup d’état on July 15, 2016. Ankara has been cracking down on suspects linked to the movement since the coup attempt.
