Europe News Desk!!! The European Commission has adopted a proposal to speed up production of ammunition to help Ukraine and address its shortage in European Union (EU) member states. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that one billion euros has been allocated for ammunition production (ASAP). Half of the money for this will come from the EU budget, while the remaining half will be raised through leveraged funding, Xinhua news agency reported. The Commission said that the ASAP is part of a three-pronged plan to supply ammunition to Ukraine while also ensuring that the EU’s own stockpiles are not depleted. The commission said that this would increase the Union’s ability to supply ammunition and missiles to Europe on time. The ASAP provisions will remove bottlenecks and loopholes. This is a temporary framework to ensure security of supply. The ASAP proposal now needs to be approved by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament before it can be implemented. After this it will remain in force till the middle of 2025.
