Japan News Desk!!! Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said he plans a two-day visit to South Korea next week to meet with President Yoon Suk Yeol. Relations between Japan and South Korea are strengthening in the face of frequent missile tests and nuclear threats from North Korea. According to Japan’s Kyodo News, Kishida told reporters that he would visit South Korea on May 7-8. It will be a good opportunity to have a frank exchange of views on ways for the countries to develop relations amidst the rapidly changing global security environment. Yoon and Kishida are likely to discuss ways to strengthen their security cooperation to counter growing nuclear and missile threats from North Korea, Yonhap news agency quoted Kyodo news as saying. They are also likely to agree on the need to strengthen trilateral cooperation between Seoul, Washington and Tokyo for stronger nuclear deterrence against the North. The last visit by a Japanese prime minister to South Korea was in February 2018 by Shinzo Abe.
