The earthquake occurred at 12.41 pm in the Kermadec Islands at a depth of 49 kilometers, Xinhua news agency reported. New Zealand’s National Emergency Management Agency said in a statement that people were evacuated from near the coast to safer places. There is also a possibility of tsunami coming soon in these areas.
