Dubai: Indian mission came forward to help a woman living in a car for 4 years!

Europe News Desk!! The Consulate General of India in Dubai has provided assistance to Priya Indru Mani (55), an Indian national who was living in a car for the last four years due to financial difficulties. Mani’s difficulties began in 2017, when his mother was paralyzed. Mani’s caregiver business faced challenges, as a result of which she was unable to pay the rent on her home at Desert Springs Village in Barsha Heights, Dubai. As a result, he and his mother were evicted. Ultimately, Mani is forced to stay in the car. Seeking help, Mani contacted the Indian Consulate, which took immediate action, coordinating with his former landlord to negotiate a settlement for the outstanding rent. Several philanthropists came forward to settle her remaining debts, including dues with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) during Ramadan.

The landlord waived off a significant portion of the dues. Jasbir Bassi, MD of Car Fair Group, contributed AED 50,000 towards rental arrears and around AED 30,000 towards DEWA fee. Due to the collaborative efforts of all parties involved and coordination by the Consulate, Mani secured a proper home and started his new job. He expressed immense gratitude to those who helped him during this challenging period and shared his excitement to start a new chapter in life. The Consulate expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Vinay Chowdhary, Anish Vijayan and Jasbir Bassi for their kind support in resolving the situation of the gem. Their show of unity and generosity in times of need exemplifies the strong bond within the Indian community in the UAE.
