World News Desk!! At least two people were killed and 12 others went missing after a boat capsized in Nchelenge district of Zambia’s northern Luapula province. The police gave this information on Tuesday. Thirty-two people were aboard the boat on Lake Mweru in the early hours of Tuesday when the boat was heading towards Zambia from Kilwa Island in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Kashobwe region, Xinhua news agency reported. Deputy police public relations officer Danny Mwale said in a statement that preliminary investigations showed that strong waves on the lake caused the accident, with most of the passengers being Congolese nationals using a Zambian-owned boat. Mwale said 18 people swam to safety and a search and rescue operation was underway for the missing. This is the third recent boat accident in Zambia. On March 31, 14 people were killed when a boat capsized in Lake Bangweolu. On April 2, eight people were killed when a boat capsized in Luangwa district of Lusaka province.
