The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that the United Nations and its allies are helping people affected by the recent earthquake in Syria. Tents, shelter kits and other emergency items have been provided to more than one million people across the country. About 11 lakh people have got ration. OCHA said on Friday that around 20 lakh hot meals have been provided. More than three-quarters of damaged schools in Aleppo, Latakia, Tartus, Hama, Homs and Idlib have reopened, Xinhua news agency reported. The United Nations has completed 69 cross-border missions in northwest Syria since the first interagency visit to Idlib on 14 February. As of Thursday, about 1,350 trucks carrying aid from seven UN agencies had crossed the northwest crossing since the quake.
