French President Emmanuel Macron on the Netherlands tour, insisted on European sovereignty!

Europe News Desk!! French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized European sovereignty during his visit to the Netherlands. This is the first state visit by a French President to the Netherlands in 23 years. In a speech at the Amare Theater in The Hague on Tuesday, Macron stressed that the concept of European sovereignty is extremely important, Xinhua news agency reported. He said, identity and sovereignty are interlinked. If you accept the loss of your sovereignty, if you accept the power of others, then you put yourself in a position where you do not make decisions for yourself and have to maintain your own identity. And you can’t even do the work of development yourself. The President said that this means that we should be able to choose our partners and shape our own destiny.

He said, we have just learned from the pandemic and the war that if we want to preserve our European identity, we have to reduce our dependence. Macron is on a two-day visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of Dutch King Willem-Alexander. The Dutch royalty said in a statement that the president’s visit would confirm the excellent relations between the two countries. The statement said the two countries are working together towards European strategic autonomy while maintaining an open economy, which will enhance the security of the EU and make it more self-sufficient.
