Europe News Desk!! At least nine people were killed in an armed attack on a small fishing port in Esmeraldas province, Ecuador, on the border with Colombia. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) gave this information. The FGE said late Tuesday that authorities recovered seven bodies from the scene and two more from a nearby hospital and took them to a forensic center, Xinhua news agency reported. According to local media, a group of attackers armed with pistols and rifles arrived at the port in the morning and opened fire on traders and employees working in the warehouse before fleeing the scene. Interior Minister Juan Zapata told the news website Primicias that the attack was carried out by 30 attackers. It is being probed whether organized crime groups are behind the attack. Meanwhile, the military said it would support police in the search for those involved in the shooting. Rising crime and violence prompted the government of Esmeraldas province to declare a state of emergency in March, which is still ongoing.
