Europe News Desk!!! Turkey has launched its largest ship TCG Anadolu. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the commissioning ceremony of the ship in Istanbul on Monday that it would enable Turkey to gain a good position in the defense industry, Xinhua news agency reported. At 231 meters long and 32 meters wide, the TCG Anadolu is now the largest ship in the Turkish Navy. The vessel has a maximum displacement of 27,436 tonnes and a maximum speed of 20.5 knots, and can travel 9,000 nautical miles. Its deck can accommodate 11 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) or 10 helicopters, while its hangar can accommodate 30 UCAVs or 19 helicopters.
Thanks to TCG Anadolu, we will become a country that is the first in the world to be a leader in game-changing technologies, systems and solutions, Erdogan said at the ceremony. On which the largest and heaviest helicopters and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) can land and take off. Erdogan said, the ship has such characteristics, which enable us to conduct military and humanitarian operations in every corner of the world. He said that 70 percent of TCG Anadolu’s parts are made in Turkey. Turkey launched the ship project in 2015 after signing an agreement with its defense industry agency Sedef Shipbuilding Inc.
