Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has successfully tested a domestic long-range, high-precision kamikaze drone armed with a 50-kilogram warhead, an Iranian official said. Ali Kouhestani, head of the Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the IRGC’s ground forces, made the remarks in an interview with the semi-official news agency Tasnim, which was published on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), named Meraj-532, has a range of 450 km, and is capable of flying at a maximum altitude of 12,000 feet for three straight hours, Kouhestani said. This drone can hit the targets with precision. Kouhestani said the suicide drone is equipped with a piston engine and can take off from a vehicle. He said the UAV has a 50 kg armament and can be easily assembled and made ready for flight, making it suitable for rapid response operations. Iran has made significant progress in the field of manufacturing UAVs in recent years. The country is currently producing drones capable of carrying out a wide range of missions.
