Alireza Enayati, a director general of the Iranian foreign ministry, confirmed that an Iranian technical delegation would visit Saudi Arabia this week to conduct preparatory work for the reopening of the embassy. According to the Saudi Press Agency, a technical delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived in Iran on Saturday to assess the situation and discuss procedures for reopening the Saudi embassy and consulates in the country. On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud signed a joint statement in Beijing. In this, it was announced to resume diplomatic relations. Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016 in response to attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran.
