Turkey summons Danish ambassador over anti-Islam protests

Europe News Desk!! The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned Danish Ambassador Danny Annan over an attack targeting a Quran and the Turkish flag during a public demonstration in Denmark. The ministry said in a statement that it strongly condemns and opposes the heinous act carried out under the guise of freedom of expression. Turkish media reported that members of the Danish group The Patriots Go Live displayed Islamophobic banners and shouted anti-Islamic slogans in front of the Turkish embassy in the Danish capital Copenhagen, Xinhua news agency reported. Local TV network CNN Turk reported that the protest was broadcast live on the group’s Facebook page. Referring to the recurrence of anti-Islamic demonstrations, the ministry said in a statement that it has been observed that such acts have been encouraged in Denmark due to the inadequacy of legal and administrative measures and the lack of political will to prevent such acts. Turkey urged Denmark to take action against the protesters. Earlier Turkey summoned the Danish ambassador to condemn the desecration of the Quran and the Turkish flag during a public protest held in Copenhagen on 24 March.
