
Europe News Desk!! Azerbaijan has opened an embassy in Israel three decades after diplomatic relations were established. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen hosted his Azerbaijani counterpart Jehun Bayramov ahead of the opening ceremony, Xinhua news agency reported. Cohen said the opening of the embassy in Tel Aviv is an important occasion for both our countries and peoples. He stressed that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner and he plans to make a diplomatic visit to Baku soon with an economic delegation. For his part, Bayramov said that Israel was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan. During the last 30 years, the relations between the two countries were strengthened on the basis of dialogue and mutual understanding. Noting that 114 Israeli companies are operating in Azerbaijan and there are direct flights between the two countries since 1993, he said that we discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation, which has promising opportunities. Israel and Azerbaijan have had official relations for over 30 years and Israel first opened its embassy in Baku in 1993.
