Massive landslide in Ecuador, 16 local people died

Europe News Desk!! At least 16 people have been killed and 16 others injured in a landslide in the Alausi canton of Chimborazo province in central Ecuador. The Risk Management Secretariat gave this information. According to preliminary reports, seven people are still missing, Xinhua news agency reported. More than 500 people have been affected and countless houses destroyed in the disaster that hit the city on Sunday night. Street lights are off. Transport service has come to a complete standstill, the secretariat said. Search and rescue teams have been sent to the spot. Temporary housing and sleeping kits have been arranged for those who have lost their homes, the Presidency’s communications secretariat said in a statement. The Risk Management Secretariat is coordinating relief efforts with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Public Health, as well as local police and fire departments, the statement said.
