Europe News Desk!!! At least 17 people, including three children, have died in a fatal road accident in central Mozambique. The official radio channel Radio Mozambique gave this information. Three other people suffered serious injuries in an accident between a passenger minibus and a truck in the central province of Sofala, Nahamatanda district, the report quoted Sofala’s secretary of state, Stella da Graca, as saying on Sunday. The official said the injured were transferred to Beira Central Hospital in the provincial capital Beira after being treated at Nahamatanda Rural Hospital, reports Xinhua news agency. “According to preliminary reports, there is information that a tire (of the minibus) burst and the vehicle collided with a cargo truck carrying cement,” Graca said. The collision was strong. Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi mourned the 17 deaths and said road accidents remain a public tragedy with devastating social and economic consequences. The cause of the accident in Matola town in the southern province of Maputo was excessive speed and a burst tyre, Nyasi said during a session of the ruling central committee on Saturday evening.
