According to Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses, heavy clashes broke out between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants on Jenin’s main street after an Israeli undercover unit stormed the city. There has been no official statement from Israel on the firing. Israeli security forces have regularly carried out raids in Jenin over the months, amid rising tensions between Palestinians and Israelis in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that 84 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli troops since January. Meanwhile, Israeli figures show that 14 Israelis were killed in attacks by Palestinians.
