MNJTF spokesman Kamaruddin Adegoke said in a statement on Wednesday that troops from the Regional Joint Task Force arrested 900 people. He is suspected of being an ally of the rebels. The operation was carried out in the general area of the Kamdugu Yobe River, Xinhua news agency reported. “Cooperation with national authorities and subsequent profiling and handover work is ongoing,” he added. The MNJTF is a joint military effort created by countries including Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Benin to fight Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which threaten the stability of the Lake Chad region.
