Europe News Desk!!! In the latest series of Russian airstrikes, airstrikes were carried out on several major Ukrainian cities on Thursday from the north of Ukraine to Odessa in the south and Zhytomyr in the west. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the explosions occurred in the western and southern districts of the capital city, the BBC reported. He said its target was the emergency services. Klitschko said cars were burning in the courtyard of a residential building and urged people to stay in shelters. Odessa Governor Maxim Marchenko confirmed that a massive missile strike targeted an energy production center in the port city, but caused no casualties. Meanwhile, about 15 attacks affected the city and the region, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the regional administration. In this, important infrastructure facilities and a residential building were targeted.
Other areas targeted by the attacks included Vinnytsia and Rivne in the west, and Dnipro and Poltava in the centre. The attacks come amid intense fighting in Bakhmut. After more than seven months of crackdown by Russia, Bakhmut’s deputy mayor, Oleksandr Marchenko, said only a few thousand civilians remained in underground shelters, with no running water, gas or electricity. The city is almost destroyed, with not a single building left standing in the battle, but Ukrainian troops have also taken a tough stand to defend the area, halting Russian advances.
