Europe News Desk!!! Nigerian soldiers have freed 14 people taken hostage by bandits in the northern state of Kaduna. Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs for Kaduna State, said in a statement on Saturday that Nigerian troops had recently launched an operation targeting bandit hideouts in Chikun area of the state. Aruwan said that the soldiers overpowered the bandits and killed one of them, while the others fled. All the rescued people are safe, Aruvan said. The commissioner said the hideout of the bandits had been destroyed by the troops, Xinhua news agency reported. There have been several armed attacks in Nigeria in recent months, resulting in deaths and kidnappings.
