Europe News Desk!! Five Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in an airstrike in Iraq’s central Salahuddin province. Iraqi army gave this information. The Security Media Cell attached to the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said their bodies were found near an IS hideout bombed by Iraqi aircraft overnight, Xinhua news agency reported. The IS base is located in the rugged area of Wadi al-Udhaim in eastern Salahuddin, near the neighboring province of Diyala, a statement said. Al-Udhaim’s rugged terrain and dense forests are used by militants to hide out. Over the past months, Iraqi security forces have launched an operation against extremist militants. The security situation in Iraq has improved since the defeat of IS in 2017.
