Europe News Desk!! The death toll from a landslide triggered by heavy rains off the coast of Brazil’s Sao Paulo state has risen to 54, as rescuers search for people buried under the mud. Rescuers have identified 13 minors among the dead, Xinhua news agency quoted the Sao Paulo state government as saying. The municipalities of São Sebastião, Ubatuba, Caraguatuba, Ilhabela and Bertioga were most affected by last weekend’s rains. The rains caused landslides in the Serra do Mar mountain range along the coast, where major tourist resorts are located. About 4 thousand people became homeless due to the landslide. The disaster is concentrated in Vila do Sahi, located next to the exclusive beaches of Ballia and Camburi, in the municipality of São Sebastião. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva this week proposed to the São Sebastião mayor’s office the construction of housing in flat areas outside the risk zones for those who have lost their homes.
