Brazil News Desk!! At least three people are missing and 20 others have been injured after a suspension bridge over the Mampituba River collapsed in southern Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state. The simple hanging bridge connecting the state’s city of Torres to Paso de Torres (in Santa Catarina) collapsed due to the carnival’s excess weight, Xinhua news agency reported. Thirty people have been rescued and they are still looking for the three missing, Torres Tourism Secretary Mathias Junges told local media on Monday. He said that the search and rescue operation for the missing people is going on. Local radio station Radio Gaucha in Rio Grande do Sul’s capital city of Porto Alegre said more than 100 people were on the bridge at the time of the accident, citing the fire department.
