State media gave this information on Saturday. According to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim and his daughter, known as Ju-ae, watched Friday’s match between cabinet colleagues and the Ministry of National Defense. It was Kim’s daughter’s sixth public appearance and first at a non-military event, Yonhap news agency reported. In photos released by state media, Kim and his daughter watched the match in a stand alongside other top officials, including Premier Kim Tok-hun and Organizational Affairs Secretary of the ruling Workers’ Party Central Committee Jo Yong-won.
Kim was also seen smoking a cigarette near her daughter. The age of the daughter is said to be about 10 years. The leader’s sister Kim Yo-jong also attended the match, although she is shown sitting in the back row behind the leader in a corner. Observers said the event was intended to demonstrate the legitimacy of the Paektu bloodline of the Kim dynasty. Referring to the holiday, Yang Moo-jin, president of the University of North Korean Studies, said that Paektu bloodline members who watch football matches on Shining Star Day intend to show their legitimacy and closeness.
